The warming of the planet that began around 10,000
BC forced humans to adapt, and they did so with
great ingenuity. Many of the larger animals people
had feasted on during the Ice Age died out as a
result of global warming and over-hunting. ----
Based on the behavior of hunter-gatherers in recent
times, women did much of the gathering in ancient
times and probably used their knowledge of plants
to domesticate wheat, barley, rice, corn, and other
cereals. This allowed groups who had once
wandered in search of sustenance to settle in one
place.
