65 million years ago, a still mysterious catastrophe
overwhelmed life on earth. It seems to have been
associated with some body from outer space, an
asteroid or a comet, which collided with the earth.
This collision created such a titanic explosion that
debris blocked out the light of the sun, and the
earth, perhaps for months, was blanketed by
continuous darkness. ---- So did many other great
reptiles, and birds. However, a few groups such as
the ancestors of ducks, gulls and geese survived.
