III) She is often depicted wearing on her head the horns of a cow, encircled by either a lunar or solar disk. IV) Bast, the goddess of love, on the other hand, was believed to have the head of a cat. V) By the period of the Roman Empire, she had become the most prominent deity of the Mediterranean basin, as her temple at Pompeii attests.
