The happy smile on the signature of C. J Hearn _______.

A state judge in Texas, Charles J. Hearn, has been adding a happy face to his signature for years, on Cheques, on his driver's licence and on the thousands of legal documents he signs as part of his job. Now, his signature is on an execution order informing a state prisoner of the date he is to die -Robert Nelson Dew. The judge insists he meant no disrespect. "It's just a signature like yours or anyone else's" he said. "It's simple. I'm a happy person. You have got to be a happy person." But Mrs. Dew's lawyer, Mr. Kunster, said he and his client interpreted the smile as mockery, and planned to ask for a new trail. "It's like" he is saying; “ Have a nice death.”
